  • If they are on Free School Meals or have been at any point in the last 6 years
  • If they are a Looked After Child (in the care of the Local Authority)
  • If they have previously been a Looked After Child and are now adopted from care or are under a Special Guardianship Order or a Child Arrangements Order or a Residence Order
  • If they have a parent in the military or has been in the military over the past 5 years or are in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence

Our Vision

Guided by our values we endeavour to motivate and inspire our children to become confident, independent and resilient learners.

Through our exciting, progressive curriculum we aspire to equip our children to meet the challenges of our changing world, so they can embrace it with knowledge, education and deeply embedded values.

We are inspired in our mission by our faith that “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13)

At Howick Church of England Primary School, our Christian vision “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13) inspires every aspect of our work. Guided by our core values, we seek to motivate and inspire children to become confident, independent and resilient learners. Our progressive, knowledge-rich curriculum equips pupils to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world with curiosity, courage and deeply rooted values.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy has one central aim: to raise the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. In doing so, it supports our mission to close the persistent attainment gap that too often separates children who grow up in poverty from their more affluent peers.

Our Intent

· High-quality teaching for all: In line with the Education Endowment Foundation’s (EEF) tiered model, our strategy prioritises consistently excellent teaching, because evidence shows this has the greatest impact on outcomes for disadvantaged learners.

· Targeted academic support: Using rigorous diagnostic assessment, we identify barriers to learning and provide timely, evidence-based interventions—both in class and through small-group or one-to-one work—led by skilled teachers and teaching assistants.

· Wider strategies for wellbeing and enrichment: We recognise that social and emotional needs can be significant barriers to success. Our provision includes Emotional Literacy (ELSA) support and carefully chosen enrichment opportunities that foster confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Our Approach

Our approach is responsive to the evolving needs of every child, not only those currently under-achieving. We:

· Use high-quality assessment and monitoring to inform decisions.

· Invest in ongoing professional development so staff have the knowledge and skills to deliver an inclusive, ambitious curriculum.

· Work in partnership with families and external agencies to remove non-academic barriers, ensuring all pupils can thrive.

By keeping disadvantaged pupils at the heart of our planning and practice, we aim for every child at Howick to leave primary school well-prepared—academically, socially and emotionally for the next stage of education and for life beyond.
