Howick Church of England Primary School

“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength."

Admissions

Howick C E School is a small family friendly primary school located in Penwortham, Preston.

We teach children from Reception to Year 6 and have an annual admission of 15 children.

Our Reception children are taught in a class of 15 with a full-time teacher supported by a part-time teaching assistant.    This unique opportunity allows the children the best possible start to their educational life and helps them settle quickly into school and class routines.

As the children progress through school we work closely and have strong links with all the local high schools.    As the time for our Year 6 children to move on approaches we work hard to ensure that their transition is seamless with a variety of activities involving “us” visiting them and “them” visiting us!

How to apply for a school place

If you are applying for a school place for your child who is due to start in Reception you are required to apply online using the Lancashire County Council website.  The deadline for applications for a primary school place in September 2025 is 15th January 2025.

In Year Admissions

If you are new to the area, or want to request a transfer to Howick, please contact us or Lancashire County Council Admissions directly to find out if a place is available for your child. If we do not have any places available, you can request that your child is put on the waiting list.

The start date for children moving during the school year will be agreed with parents. Children will continue to attend their existing school until that date.

Visits

For any new admissions to school, either the new September intake or through the academic year, we invite you to come and see us in action during the school day.   This can be done by contacting the school office (01772 612487).

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admissions arrangements below.
