Church life

Our Church: St Mary's, Penwortham

Howick CE School is a Voluntary Controlled Church school.

Voluntary controlled in general terms means that we adopt the general educational policies of and are governed by Lancashire County Council.  However, in addition to this we are supported by and are partially governed by Blackburn Diocese.  We are incredibly proud to be part of St Mary's Church family with links dating back to the 19th Century.  We work closely with the Diocese and the Church to adopt and implement their faith education programme.

Further information on St Mary's Church, their services, history and much more can be found on the link below.

The King's Coronation

As part of the Coronation celebrations we joined with St Mary's Church to create these wonderful weather vanes.  Reverend Chris came into school to lead Collective Worship and reminded the children about how passionate King Charles is about conservation,  These animals have been a fantastic way of reminding them about the importance of protecting our wildlife.

The Queen's Jubilee

As part of the Jubilee celebrations St Mary's Church have provided each of our families with a horse to decorate. These will be on display in church. The children have really enjoyed this opportunity and we are so impressed with their work.
