Howick Bulletin 2

A message from everyone at Howick – 30th April 2020

Hello everyone there from everyone here!

Welcome to our weekly ‘keep in touch’ bulletin about what we’ve been up to without you in school. We still miss you all, but we know that we’re all playing our part to keep ourselves and others safe.

A message for our children….

Hi folks! Well done for continuing to send in your emails so we know what you’ve been up to! I know that you’ve been working hard with the work that your teachers set each day and they love hearing from you. Keep up the good work!

Today will be the last day that work will be set for you for the next 2 weeks. This is so that our teachers can have their usual Easter holiday. I know that your teachers will have given you lots of websites you can visit for games if you would like to do that during this break.

The Easter Bunny emailed me this morning. He wanted me that to thank you for all the years we’ve picked up his dropped carrots on the playground because of the hole in his bag. You already know that this year he decided to fix the hole and so he left us Easter Eggs early which you took home. I wonder how many of you saved them for Easter? I know HG in Class 2 didn’t because he told me this morning at school! Anyway, the Easter Bunny wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter, and to tell you he was checking in with his Grandma each day by using WhatsApp to make sure she’s ok.

A message for our parents…..

We know that you’ll all still be doing an amazing job at home. It’s just very strange not seeing you on the playground each day. We hope you are keeping safe and well.

We’ve had a few enquiries about refunds for lunches / toast / ASC and we want to reassure you that Mrs Rowett has all this in hand and you will receive refunds or credits for anything you have paid for in advance. We’ll get to this as soon as we can. Thank you.

Next week, and for the next 6 weeks, we begin a rota to ensure that all our staff here receive their entitlement to leave. Over the usual 2 week Easter Holidays, all our class teachers and Mrs Rowett will be taking a 2 week break. The teachers won’t be setting work or responding to emails during this time. They’ll be back in action from the week beginning 20th April. If you need to contact school urgently during this time, please use howick1@howick.lancs.sch.uk during this 2 week period. Thank you!

The teaching assistants and myself will be in school over the Easter holiday as we remain open for the 16 families we are currently serving. Donna will continue to clean our school as she has been doing every day to keep us safe. Once the Easter break is over, this team will have their break. Donna has her 2 week break just a little bit further down the line, when Mrs Betteridge has stepped up to keep us clean and safe each day. It’s a truly remarkable team of people we have here!

So, mini mentions (it is Friday after all) go the the following children this week – DM Class 3 for being a hero, SO Class 2 for being so chirpy all the time, PG Class 3 for motivating us to move to Joe Wickes!

And special mention this week goes to Donna, for keeping us gelled, sanitised, hoovered, wiped and everything else she does!

Until next week, everyone, know that we are thinking of you and missing you all. Keep safe everyone.
